The answer people want

People search for Palau ID with Coinbase, Kraken, OKX, Binance, Bybit, and KuCoin because they want to know one thing: will this card pass KYC?

The responsible answer is that acceptance varies. RNS says the Palau ID is a legal proof of identity and reports exchange-related KYC use cases, but RNS docs do not give a permanent, exchange-by-exchange guarantee for every named platform.

Private exchanges can change policies, reject valid IDs, ask for extra documents, restrict features by country, or apply different rules to existing accounts than new accounts.

Exchange-by-exchange research checklist

Use this table as a research framework before applying.

ExchangeWhat to verify before relying on Palau ID
CoinbaseConfirm current accepted identity documents and country availability for your account. Coinbase may also ask for address, tax, source-of-funds, or account-specific checks.
KrakenCheck whether Palau-issued ID is accepted for the verification level you need. Do not assume identity approval unlocks every product in every country.
OKXConfirm current ID and residency requirements. Some features can depend on declared residence, not just the ID issuer.
BinanceSearch the current support center and recent reports. The keyword has low-volume demand, but successful reports should not be treated as policy guarantees.
BybitVerify account country, product access, and document rules. Acceptance varies, especially for derivatives and restricted-region products.
KuCoinCheck whether a physical Palau ID card is accepted and whether POA is required for your account.

This page is intentionally conservative because exchange KYC is not controlled by RNS or by this affiliate site.

The physical-card rule still applies

If you try exchange KYC with a Palau ID, plan around the physical card. RNS says Only the physical copy of your ID can be used for KYC. A portal image, screenshot, or downloaded file should not be treated as a replacement.

That means shipping time matters. Read the timeline guide before assuming you can apply and verify immediately.

Watch for residence and POA

Many KYC failures are not really ID failures. They are residence, proof-of-address, risk, sanctions, or product-eligibility issues.

For example, an exchange might accept a Palau-issued identity document but still require proof of where you live. RNS itself says members have used their own proof-of-address methods when required, which is a useful reminder that identity and address are separate.

The detailed POA guide is here: Palau ID proof of address.

When applying still makes sense

Applying can make sense if you want a second legal identity document and you understand the limitations. It is less sensible if your entire thesis depends on one exchange accepting one upload for one account.
