Identity is not address

The Palau ID is an identity document. Proof of address is a separate compliance requirement. A bank, exchange, or payment app can accept your ID and still ask where you live.

RNS says the Palau mailing service is not a Proof of Address and may not satisfy specific verification requirements. That sentence should control your expectations.

POA terms you will see

TermMeaning
POIProof of identity, such as an ID card or passport
POAProof of address, such as a utility bill or bank statement
Mailing addressA place that can receive mail, not automatically residential proof
Utility roadmapFuture or phased services that may depend on third parties and regulation
Residential addressWhere a platform believes you actually live

Why exchanges may still ask

Binance describes proof of address as a document that validates where you live. Bybit says Advanced verification can require proof of address and lists utility bills, bank statements, and residential proof issued by government among accepted examples.

Those checks are not solved by a Palau ID alone. They usually require a document showing your current residential address.

Safer POA workflow

  1. Read the target platform's current POA rules.
  2. Confirm whether it needs residential address, mailing address, or registered business address.
  3. Check document age requirements.
  4. Use an original PDF or clear photo where allowed.
  5. Avoid virtual-office or mail-forwarding claims unless the platform explicitly accepts them.
  6. Treat the RNS mailing service as mail support, not verification proof.

Bottom line

The Palau ID can help with identity where accepted. It does not guarantee address verification. For deeper context, read Palau ID proof of address, Palau mailing address, and Palau digital residency limitations.
