Palau Digital Residency Documents Checklist
A practical checklist for preparing identity documents, camera access, profile details, and shipping information before applying for Palau digital residency.

Start with exact identity details
RNS describes an application flow where your Palau ID profile must match the government identity documents you submit. That makes the first document step simple: use your legal name, date of birth, nationality, and document details exactly as they appear on your current ID.
Do not treat the application as a casual signup form. Small mismatches can trigger extra review or rejection because RNS says the process includes identity verification, KYC/AML review, sanctions screening, criminal background checks, government review, printing, packaging, and shipping.
Document checklist
Prepare these before you open the RNS portal:
| Item | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Valid government ID | RNS FAQ says official documents can include ID cards, passports, driving licenses, and resident permits |
| At least one month of validity | RNS FAQ says the provided ID must have at least one month before expiration |
| Camera-enabled device | RNS describes camera-based face-match verification |
| Clear document photo | RNS FAQ warns applicants not to upload scanned documents for verification |
| Matching profile details | The application profile should match the document exactly |
| Delivery address | The physical card is mailed after approval, printing, and packaging |
Photo quality matters
RNS FAQ tells applicants to provide clear photos and says do not upload scanned documents for verification. Use a well-lit photo, avoid glare, keep all corners visible, and make sure the text is readable.
If your photo is rejected, use the Palau ID photo rejected guide before uploading another version. Do not keep resubmitting the same image.
If your goal is KYC
If your reason for applying is exchange verification, remember the RNS warning repeated throughout this site: Only the physical copy of the Palau ID can be used for KYC. Do not plan around a portal screenshot, downloaded image, or digital preview.
Read physical vs digital Palau ID for KYC before applying if your target use case depends on a crypto exchange, bank, or payment app.
Before you pay
RNS FAQ says orders are final and nonrefundable. That means document readiness is part of the buying decision.
Use this order:
- Confirm your country and shipping route are eligible.
- Prepare a valid document with enough remaining validity.
- Confirm your name and profile details match the document.
- Review the Palau digital residency cost guide.
- Apply through the official RNS portal only when the above is ready.
